Sin titulo por Isabel Fraire
en cuanto sale el sol
todo sale sobrando
basta
con abrir los ojos
desperezarse
como un gato
y todo lo demás
los sistemas
filosóficos
políticos
las profundas disquisiciones
éticas
estéticas
son sólo
una manera agradable de pasar el rato
bellos garigoleos barrocos de los cuales hay que regresar
para recuperar aquí en el sol
el goce simple de la
propia
piel
"Like a Cat"
Translation by Thomas Hoeksema (taken from The Oxford Book of Latin American Poetry (2009):
Untitled by Isabel Fraire
the minute the sun comes out
everthing is beside the point
it is enough
to open your eyes
to stretch your limbs
like a cat
and all the rest
philosophical
political
systems
deep moral and
aesthetic
disquisitions
are only
a pleasant means of whiling away the time
beautiful baroque flourishes from which you must retreat
to recover
here in the sun
the simple pleasure of your
own
skin
